Hello!

I'm Julia Josephine

I love community and making art with others. That has always been the case since I was younger. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. My mom is an artist and is a big influence on my art. I grew up in a very Catholic family and that carries through to some of my pieces. Out of high school I was involved heavily in musical theater and tap dancing (teaching and performing). I moved to Western Washington in 2019 and got more involved in art and the community of artists here. My work now involves planning artistic events or classes with local businesses, specifically for artists and being a resource for others. My personal work involves collages and reusing vintage ephemera in my art and painting bananas or Catholic imagery on top.  Everything from small paintings and sculptures to bigger installations for events. I love connecting with all ages through my banana art, but especially love connecting with kiddos. A way I've recently been doing that in addition to teaching, is through balloon twisting and making something for them or with them.

I started and continue to manage The Tacoma Artists Meet Up and have worked with The Tacoma Light Trail, The Rails to Trails Coalition, Reggae on the Way, Celebrate PDX, Epitome Gallery in CA, Gallery Go Go in OR, Artco Framing and Gallery in WA, and other organizations and galleries along the West Coast. I hope to expand upon that list and continue to work with and collaborate on larger scale projects.

Subscribe and stay on top of my latest art projects and events.
